Catholic Charities Goes Wireless

Overview

Catholic Charities of Baltimore, one of the largest in the country, needed to improve their network infrastructure to implement new software and services.  With little management of user access at over 140 locations, CC turned to VSS/Exigo to implement a new wireless network utilizing Aruba Wireless technologies and 400+ access points.

Challenge

CC had little or no security running in the environment and a WAN that consisted of numerous telecom partners and no management.  Knowing they had to upgrade the WAN, the next logical step was to implement controlled wireless access in 10 large facilities in the Baltimore area and 130 small locations in the surrounding suburbs.  CC had standardized on WatchGuard firewalls that were centrally managed, but some were outdated or required firmware updates.   CC had no ability to manage the quality of the wireless or WAN/LAN due to lack of managed switches.

Solution

Exigo and our partner VSS implemented a centrally managed Aruba Wireless solution along with HP switches and management software.

Exigo managed all aspects of the implementation, including scheduling of cabling contractors, equipment design, configuration, and installation in over 140 locations.
